1. Village At War

Step back to the 1940s to find out what life was like in Norfolk during the Second World War. See the Land Army and meet costumed characters from Allied Assault 44 and the Royal Norfolk Regiment. The Battle of Britain Me-morial Flight will fly over on Monday.

2. Weekend Nature Walk

What could be better than joining this summer afternoon stroll onto the reserve at Cley guided by our expert volun-teers, looking at its birds, plants and other wildlife. The walk lasts between one and a half and two hours. Limited to just 10 places, so book early.

3. Cartoon Workshop

To coincide with the Secrets of the Saucy Seaside Postcard exhibition, here sis a chance to learn the skills of the cartoonist and create characters that would have appeared in the ‘saucy seaside’ postcards of the past - suitable for all ages.

4. Stock Car Racing

Thrills, spills, crashes and smashes mean a trip to Yarmouth Stadium is a must for all young petrolheads. This bank holiday meeting includes the latest round of Superstox, plus rookie bangers, the caravan destruction derby and hair-raising figure of eight races.

5. King Street Community Voices Special

Dragon Hall celebrates the varied recent history of King Street with this family event that includes audio and video histories and kid’s workshops suitable for 11-16.

6. Nelson Monument

Climb all 217 steps of this Grade I listed monument to experience the breathtaking views — Norwich Cathedral can be seen on a clear day — and to learn more about the Monument.

7. East Coast Truckers

Gather at County Hall, Norwich, August 29, convoy departs 10am, 07511 531355, www.ect-charity.co.uk

The lorries have been cleaned and polished and the truckers and their passengers are about to hit the road for this year’s special 28th anniversary convoy. Places to see the convoy include: Blofield/Brundell Flyover (10.40am); Acle (10.50am); Vauxhall Holiday Camp (11.10am); Gorleston White Horse (11.20am).

8. Aylsham Show

The 65th Aylsham Show returns to Blickling Park, with the Aylsham Agricultural Show Association once again lining up another exciting programme to appeal to the expected 15,000-plus visitors. This year attractions include the Bolddog Lings Freestyle Team, and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

9. Mediaeval Spectacular

Step back centuries to come face-to-face with armour-clad knights, deadly accurate archers, barber-surgeons and storytellers, all in lavish mediaeval costumes. Activities, games and music give visitors a chance to experience mediaeval life as it really was.

10. Poppy Line

This has to be one of the most glorious way to take in the North Norfolk coast. The 10.5 mile round trip from Sheringham to Holt through outstanding rolling countryside, to the north, almost nothing but the sea.
